Inform or persuade? Here's the difference between DEM and newsletter Both are email marketing tools and are widely used by companies that want to communicate and stay in direct contact with their customers and potential customers: but what is the difference between DEM and newsletter ? They are often confused as leading to a waste of resources and the failure to achieve company objectives. So let's learn more about newsletters and DEMs , but also understand how to make the most of them for your business. What is the newsletter and what objectives does it have? The newsletter is an email message sent periodically to communicate updates and various information to a list of contacts (mailing list), who have agreed to receive it. The newsletter can be considered the "company bulletin" because it aims to inform about news, initiatives, promotions, but also to give advice on a specific topic, usually in line with your business. An effective newsletter must, however, be able not only to inform , but also to involve and retain users , keeping their interest alive.

Thanks to this marketing tool, it is also possible to transform the lead into a prospect , i.e. a simple visitor Estonia Phone Number List to the site into someone who has decided to stay in touch and updated (by subscribing to the newsletter) and, subsequently, into a real customer ( customer). When creating a newsletter it is important to strategically study the content , the graphics and the call to action , the clickable text that allows the reader to carry out the desired action, be it purchasing, downloading content, sharing etc. What is meant by DEM? DEM is the acronym for " direct e-mail marketing" which refers to all the strategies put into practice through e-mail messages. The nature of these emails is promotional , so the goal is to sell a product or service through information, photos, videos and eye-catching graphics. In particular, these non-periodic communications can pursue specific marketing objectives such as increasing traffic to the site, the conversion rate, conveying a particular promotion and so on. So here is the difference between DEM and newsletter In both cases these are e-mail messages sent to a list of contacts, who must have signed up and given consent to receive promotional communications.

As is easy to imagine, the main difference between DEM and newsletter is the purpose: in DEM it is purely commercial and persuasive because it aims at conversion, while in the newsletter it is informative , since it is constant communication aimed at cultivating a relationship with contacts . Obviously, the ultimate purpose of the newsletter is also to sell, but in a different way than the DEM. The newsletter is sent periodically (one a week, one a month...), while the DEM does not follow timing, but rather the needs of the brand that must promote a specific product/service, event, etc. Furthermore, the two tools are characterized by different KPIs , the performance indicators that allow us to understand whether the DEM/newsletter campaigns are achieving the desired results. For DEM, in fact, it is important to understand how many sales are finalized, so it is necessary to calculate the Conversion Rate , while for newsletters various parameters are taken into account such as the opening rate or the unsubscription rate.
